Skutterudite, 15.2 cm, from the Cobalt area, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada. Since their discovery in 1903, the silver-cobalt-nickel-arsenide veins of Cobalt, Ontario have yielded over 600 million ounces of silver, along with nine minerals new to science. The minerals in the calcite-filled veins often show interesting patterns when slabbed, like the specimen shown here.
