Beudantite is a hydrated lead iron arsenate sulfate mineral that forms in secondary crusts and veinlets. It commonly presents as earthy to dull lustered aggregates, often appearing as yellow-brown to tan, with a soft, waxy appearance. Crystals are rare, but when present they can display prismatic forms and a vitreous to submetallic sheen in favorable lighting. The mineral solidifies in oxidized zones of lead-rich ore bodies where arsenates and sulfates coexist, producing coatings and nodular masses on fracture surfaces.
