Hematite specimens from the Wessels are widely regarded for having some of the best metallic lusters for the species, often resembling more of a mirror than a crystal. This specimen is mostly composed of immense, steely-grey, tabular Hematite crystals, complete with smooth, highly reflective crystal faces that are accented with nicely stepped features; the back side of the Hematite differs somewhat with a more rugged texture. Each crystal is interwoven into a crescent-shaped incline that acts as a pedestal for a single sharply-formed, tabular crystal at the peak of the specimen (6.5 x 5.8 centimeters). The side edges and back of the specimen are framed with a starkly contrasting, sparkly druze of brownish-red Andradite Garnets and a few isolated groups of translucent white Albite. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
