This is a very rich and hefty combination specimen that features dramatic, cuboctahedral Galena crystals with well-formed associations of Sphalerite, thin sheets of Siderite, and starkly contrasting sprays of white Quartz. The larger Galena crystals, reaching up to 4.0 centimeters, are flattened with an echeloned surface and minor hoppering along some of the edges; each crystal stands out further with a steel-grey color, moderately reflective luster, and matte surface texture. Other associations of Chalcopyrite and what is likely Calcite are scattered throughout the specimen. While Kennedy had a well-curated collection prior to his acquisition of this piece, he notes this specimen as being one of his first show purchases, picked up in April 2014, one of the first of the Sulfide subcollection that later flourished. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
