Old time specimen from the Congo, this a stalactitic crystallized green malachite. In good condition. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video. Complete all around. The Mutoshi Mine, located near Mutshatsha in the Lualaba Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is a historic and prolific open-pit mining operation within the Katanga Copperbelt, with major industrial and artisanal extraction expanding significantly through the mid-to-late 20th century. Geologically, the deposit is situated within Neoproterozoic sedimentary rocks of the Roan Group, where intense oxidation, weathering, and supergene alteration of primary copper sulfides within fractured dolostones and shales created rich secondary mineral zones. Mineralogically, the mine is world-renowned for producing exceptional, highly aesthetic specimens of secondary copper minerals, most famously brilliant blue kolwezite, malachite, azurite, and world-class cobaltian chrysocolla or heterogenite aggregates that are prized by collectors globally.
