Whiteite, Arrojadite and Lazulite
Whiteite is a rare phosphate species that occurs at its apex only from a few remote locations in the Yukon. All the best pieces, so far as we know, were collected by Rod Tyson and his partners in various expeditions over the decades, by helicopter, to this remote region. This is a particularly large crystal in exceptional condition, with large size and what passes for good luster on this material; and it would have come out from one of his trips in the 1980s. It has been through a few collections but ended up back with Rod and Alex bought from: Rod Tyson, Tysons’ Fine Minerals, Nova Scotia, Canada (mn-WHR-6029, 12543), with label. For what it is, this is a beauty! Minor associations with arrojadite and lazulite. Laszlo Kupi photo.
