A stunning, sharp crystal cluster of two diopside crystals grown together, with the bottom and thicker crystal acting as a natural "chair" for the extended gem transparent crystal to rise above. This is from the most famous mine location for gem specimens of this species and came out in the early 2000s. I had it, sold it to Paul Stahl, and it remained until 2025 in his fantastic suite of miniatures of nearly 800 different species. To my eye, this is as unique in aspect now, as it was then. More have come out, but I have not seen another cluster quite like this. The contrast of the two crystals in shape and transparency accentuates both, and makes the piece stand out. Minor graphite attached in lower back.
