Description
A first class Olivenite from the famed Kamariza mines, around and beneath the town of Kamariza, now named Agios Konstantinos. This classic mining district lies a few kilometres inland from the coastal port of Lavrion. The gossan matrix, composed of iron oxides with an earthy, reddish-brown limonitic coating, forms a large shallow vug some 8 x 4 cm which is completely lined with small, perfectly developed, emerald to grass green Olivenite crystals. The stubby acicular crystals, typically 1 mm long, form dense rosettes covering the entire surface of the vug. It’s a superb specimen from the Kamariza mines, one fit for a museum display or a magnificent addition to any collection of Lavrion minerals.\n
