Tucson, Arizona, USAThis very large miniature Vauxite specimen makes for a stunning display of this extremely rare secondary phosphate species. Not only is it from the Type Locality of Siglo Veinte mine in Bolivia, where the species was first described in 1922, but it has character and colour. Its rich smalt-blue colour is much more intense than usually seen in Vauxite and the velvety crystallized crust has a lovely bright sparkling appearance and no damage. On the reverse, the specimen displays casts where the Vauxite, and associated white to pale cream Metavauxite, has previously coated, or epimorphed another long gone mineral. On the back, where the surfaces casts are smooth, the Vauxite is much paler blue, to a blue-green colour. It comes with a custom-made display stand, which presents the specimen upright. A beautiful, and exotic, South American classic, which even has the shape of South America about it.
