ARGENTOPYRITE with Calcite Polybasite and NATIVE Silver$2,000.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This is both a wonderfully complex and detailed specimen and one with significant age too. As can be seen with the accompanying very old handwritten label, this specimen was once kept as a great example of Calcite (as Kalkspath) from Andreasberg. The number written on that label - 1836 - appears to be the year. St. Andreasberg in Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany is one of the most famous silver mining districts in all of Germany and actually this 'Calcite' specimen is richly invested with Silver minerals, from dark grey Argentopyrite and Polybasite, to small wispy wires of Native Silver. This is a cracking old-timer and one from the superb German collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
