A, dare I say, "attractive" miniature specimen of Pyrolusite from Gremmelsbach in the Black Forest area of Germany. The aesthetics of this specimen are wonderful, with several interlocking fan-like sprays of acicular Pyrolusite. Matrix free, the metallic lustre on the Pyrolusite is very bright. A fine, eye-catching example of an often overlooked mineral. A new discovery of fine specimens was reported from this area in April 2015 in the Mineralogical Record.
