This is a remarkably rich small cabinet specimen of Anatase from a famous European locality. The name Tysse, indicates that this is an older specimen - Tysee, being the name used to refer to a large area along the Tyssevassdraga (Tysee waterway) and Tyssedalsfjella (Tysee mountains) in the western part of Hardangervidda. In the 1970s specimens were given this name to prevent other collectors finding the exact source among the alpine clefts in this area. The specimen consists of a matrix of Quartz, var. Rock Crystal, in irregular, nondescript crystals, but these are richly coated in perfectly formed, glossy, dark blue to black tapering bipyramidal Anatase crystals to 7 mm in length. There must be nearly 100 Anatase crystals in total, of varying sizes. From a famous German collector who recorded that he acquired it from Helm Törk at Munich.
