Forsterite var. Peridot$6,000.00

Incredibly rare from Burma, is this gemmy, green Peridot (a type of Forsterite) thumbnail crystal of competition quality for anywhere. This tabular, almost spearpoint shaped crystal is completely gem and has a vibrant, lime-green color that is even more intense-looking through the edges of the crystal. The crystal has lightly etched crystal faces giving it a delightful satiny luster that also masks its internal gem character. It also has a small, 1 cm sidecar crystal in front that is also gem. These Burmese Peridots are highly treasured and are most often cut, with few specimens for collectors surviving. This is not the biggest, but is certainly one of the better, sharper crystals recovered for its size class. This is an important gem Peridot for this region, one of the world's most highly valued gem deposits since ancient times. This beauty has a mass of 9.12 grams. It is a significant thumbnail, distinct and more aesthetic to my eye as a thumbnail specimen, than any comparable from Pakistan (modern material). The difference is in the color, the clarity, and the association with the secondary crystal and small bit of white matrix at base.
