Description
Yaogangxian Mine, Yaogangxian W-Sn ore field, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China 6.5 x 5.0 x 5.0 cm Formerly in the collections of Will Johnson, and Andrew K. Ford One of the most difficult things to find in the mineral world, and especially concerning the focus of Fluorite, is true, complete, cubic crystals. Most of the time, there is a corner or edge cleaved off in situ, or the crystal never completed its growth. That is not the case with this specimen. There are 7 of 8 corners completely exposed and undamaged on this competition-level small cabinet sized specimen. The color is exceptional, with two of the faces of the crystal being lightly coated in a thin layer of druzy secondary growth, that traps the light inside the crystal, making it seem to glow. This specimen is the definition of perfection in the mineral collecting world.
