A flattened saucer-shaped trigonal crystal of the Tourmaline series Uvite, from the first recorded locality of Brumado Bahia in Brazil. The crystal appears an opaque lustrous black, but in transmitted light its thin edges show as translucent rich sherry-brown. The Uvite crystal is part-encrusted with colourless to pale peppermint-green sucrosic crystals of possible magnesite, but these require more extensive examination. A large and near-perfect Uvite Tourmaline specimen from Brazil.
