Beryl var. Morganite (very early 1900s)
An antique and pretty cluster of sharp morganite crystals, showing classic rich color, from one of the older mines in the San Diego County tourmaline pantheon that dates back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. This is thought to have come out circa 1900, and ended up coming into the Larson collection through an older dealer in New Mexico (label) called Adobe Trading. Larson than verified the origin as King Mine based on other samples in the collection and with people at the time still alive who knew the material well. 46 grams. From the important and long held personal San Diego County Collection of William "Bill" Larson, longtime owner of the Himalaya Mine, discoverer of the famous Queen Mine BlueCap pocket, and numerous other San Diego mining projects over the last 60 years and more.
