A choice cluster of bladed Anhydrite crystals from the Campiano Mine in Tuscany (probably from finds in the 1970s). The largest crystal is 4.9 cm. The Anhydrites have a fine, pearlescent luster that simply cannot be captured adequately in the photos - there is not much contrast in the specimen for the camera. This is certainly one of the nicer Campiano Anhydrite specimens I have seen in recent years. As you would expect, a number of these blades have some cleavage. Much better in person. Good aesthetics when you can appreciate it fully as you gaze at it in person. I have seen many of these for sale over the years, but usually they are rather lumpy or jumbly, and lack such nice aesthetics as this one.
