A shockingly large, thick, terminated and complete tourmaline crystal from Switzerland, as there are so few tourmalines formed and surviving in the high Swiss Alps! This robust large crystal is jet black, the schorl variety of tourmaline. It surprisingly has an association that is very rare from any locality, with small bright wine-red garnets dotting the surface. From a singular discovery in the early 2000s, and sold to Brent late in the collection-building process by Siber & Siber, the Swiss dealership he used to scour collections and strahlers for new finds, in 2018. Until then, he had others, smaller by far. This was the best Schorl in terms of a stereotypical crystal, that he could obtain in decades of looking. It happens to be elegant and beautiful enough, with a rich and shiny surface, to go well in any collection (not only a Swiss collection).
