A crystallized cluster of native copper, this mounted in a Riker Mount box. Interesting antique specimen that comes with a previous label from Ward's Natural Science Establishment. The size provided is the size of the Riker Mount box. The Musonoi Mine, located near Kolwezi in the Lualaba Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is a world-famous mining complex with commercial open-pit operations beginning in the 1940s. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the rich Katanga Copperbelt, specifically in the Neoproterozoic Roan Group of the Katanga Supergroup, where complex tectonic folding, thrust faulting, and extensive supergene weathering have intensely altered the primary ore bodies. Mineralogically, the mine is celebrated internationally for its extraordinary diversity and unique assemblage of secondary minerals, producing exceptional specimens of cobalt and uranium species, rare palladium and selenium minerals, and vibrant copper secondary formations that are heavily prized by advanced mineral collectors worldwide.
