Classic prismatic crystals of Celestine coming off matrix with calcite. Typical of these some chipping present, this one still in very good condition.The Stoneco White Rock Quarry, located in Clay Center, Ottawa County, Ohio, was established around the late 19th century (circulating since at least the 1880s) and has operated continuously for crushed limestone, dolomite, and building aggregate. Geologically, the quarry exposes Silurian-age Lockport Dolomite, where vugs and cavities formed through secondary dissolution processes. It is world-renowned among mineral collectors for its distinctive mineralogy, producing lustrous brown or "root-beer" colored fluorite crystals, celestine blades, calcite, and occasional strontianite or sphalerite. The site is particularly famous because its fluorite specimens exhibit intense cream-white fluorescence and strong phosphorescence under ultraviolet light.
