Strikingly sculptural, this "soft looking" specimen of Plumbogummite as a solid replacement after Calcite is a rich, showy and colorful example from this noted Chinese locality. The original piece was a plate of scalenohedral Calcites, which are uncommon at Yangshuo. These were then coated with a rich layer of baby-blue Plumbogummite, creating a landscape where the tallest of these is 2.3 cm. Then much of the substrate was dissolved away, leaving the crystals partly hollow as this epimorph formed. Interestingly, the tips are tinted yellow-green, which almost certainly are traces of Pyromorphite. This paragenesis (order of formation) would not be a surprise at all, and makes the piece even more intriguing. These thin, elegant plates of crystals came out in 2020-22 or so; and after the major finds here in 2008-2015, when we thought the mine was done. This is a very elegant example in a good size range.
