Willemite
This is a floating cluster of aggregates of "rice grain" willemite crystals, in sparkling pinwheels about a core cluster, from Tsumeb in Namibia. Most people will never see one of these, as they are extremely uncommon. Tsumeb actually produced some of the world's best wilemites, found in different crystal habits and also in hues of brown, yellow, and even blue. This sparkling specimen is a relatively rare style that was found only once (we think in the early 1980s). It has sharp crystals to a few millimeters that must be in the hundreds, and together combines to make for a champagne-colored gemmy sculpture. The whole piece is completely translucent to transparent! We have had a half dozen thumbnails and only a few larger specimens of this material over the years with colors ranging from brown to amber in hue. This is as bright and shiny as it gets, with the best and most pretty color.
