A rarity for the Eagle’s Nest Mine, a true "leaf gold," essentially a natural sheet of flattened gold crystals that looks like gold-colored aluminum foil! Although small in weight, it is big in surface area and this is a very choice miniature of this rare gold habit! Such specimens are almost never found here in this size — although they are Gold Rush era classics from the Jamestown area of the Mother Lode Belt and old mines. Leaf gold has a special brightness, look, and texture to it, hard to describe unless you have seen one — truly magical! And, this is as fine a miniature as you would want, but strangely contemporary and not from the era of 100 years ago (nor with the price that would command if so, and out of a museum). 2.77 g
