Rhodonite from Peru stunned the world in 1991 when these fine, pink-red crystals came to market. Most such specimens were large plates, and only a relatively few fine thumbnails were available. This dates back to those times, and was a recent deaccession by the Rice Museum of Minerals. It is absolutely a perfect competition-sized thumbnail, complete all around, with elegant dimensionality as the crystals curve a bit in relation to one another. Have not seen such a good thumbnail but once every few years, turn up on the market.
