A small cabinet specimen displaying two fine Hausmannite crystals from the world famous N'Chwaning I mine at Kuruman in the Kalahari Manganese Field of Northern Cape Province, South Africa. The crystals measure 1.5 cm and 0.9 cm on edge and form composite octahedral crystals, built from stacked and layered miniature versions of similar, millimetre-scale crystals, all in epitaxial alignment. The Hausmannite is a fairly matt, sooty black which contrasts well against a pale pink druse of well crystallised Andradite Garnet, dusted with fine-sucrosic white Calcite.
