Description
This rich small miniature of the manganese oxide Hausmannite is from it type locality at Oehrenstock in the Ilmenau District of Thuringian Forest, Germany, an ancient manganese mining area. Tetragonal Hausmannite crystals, embedded in a matrix of massive granular Hausmannite and mixed manganese oxides, display many triangular prism faces in a jumbled array of intergrown crystals. A good and interesting example of Hausmannite from its type locality. It comes with a Karl Rickauer of M'nchen label and is from the Josef Clemente Collection of southern Germany.
