Elpidite
Acicular bundles of cream-tan Elpidite crystals are distributed within an approximately 3.5 x 3.0 cm vug within a matrix of crystallised Albite Feldspar. Elpidite is a rare sodium-zirconium silicate, this specimen being from the Lovozero Massif on the Kola Peninsula of Russia, one of the world’s major nepheline-syenite deposits (Mont Saint-Hilaire being another). The Albite forms micro-spiky crystals and crystal clusters lining the large, centrally-positioned vug.
