Natrolite
This is one of the most robust natrolite specimens we've had the opportunity to see, with sharp and well formed crystals reaching to 6 cm. This would be ranked highly in quality from anywhere - but it is a USA specimen, which is extremely surprising! These came out of a very few finds in the same areas as the benitoite mine, and were collected (I am told by old California hands) in a very few discoveries in the 1960s-70s. This is one of the largest clusters we have ever seen from California, and it is an intact, displayable small cabinet specimen that is a quality hard to believe for the region. Small crystals are rarely seen, but a big cluster like this, almost unheard of. It came to us with the Bob Reynolds collection in 2018 and was surely collected by him or one of his close friends. It notes that it came from a road cut near a Union Carbide mining pit.
