Hübnerite on Quartz$4,000.00

This is a remarkable Peruvian Hübnerite specimen. It comes from the famous Labor Teo pocket in Mundo Nuevo mine, Huamachuco, La Libertad, Peru, from the late 2009 find. Small cabinet in size it is huge in stature, featuring the now iconic thicker bladed monoclinic crystals, many of which are freestanding. These classic lustrous black crystals of Hübnerite, which reach an impressive 4.5 cm in length, are immaculately crystallized and are perched on a thin bed of gemmy colourless needle-like crystals of Quartz which on the reverse appears to epimorph a cubic mineral - possibly Fluorite. Several of the Hübnerite crystals display stepped parallel growth on the broad faces, but they are perfect in shape and have very little damage. This is a fabulous Hübnerite, world-class in fact, and features prominently in the Hübnerite pages on Mindat.org. Ex Robert Brandstetter collection.
