This small miniature / large thumbnail is a terrific combination of a double terminated stubby crystal of Amethyst Quartz perched on top of a colourless Danburite crystal. The Danburite, a calcium boron silicate, measures 2 cm tall and although part of the termination is hidden by the Amethyst, sufficient faces remain visible to see the termination. The Amethyst displays colour zoning with a colourless Quartz framework infilled by delicate violet Amethyst panels on each face. This is a lovely specimen from the Charcas mining district in the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
