Description
This quite squat prismatic Tourmaline crystal contains the colours of sugar candy, a delicious mix of silky whites and pale to deep candy pinks. From near the town of Araçuaí in Minas Gerais, Brazil, the local gem-bearing granite pegmatite has produced many characteristic gem minerals including Tourmaline in a multitude of colours and prism habits. This translucent ex. matrix crystal has deeply striated prism faces with a gorgeous bright silky lustre and the flat pinacoid termination has a 1 mm deep pale sky blue cap. When viewed directly from above, this almost disappears, but from the side, is a distinct blue cap. Semi-crystalline to granular greenish-blue Tourmaline is attached to the concave face adding texture and colour. This lovely miniature is mounted on a clear acrylic square base.
