A gorgeous and unusual Yaoganxian specimen with brilliant sparkling minerals of three species, and complete all around! Glassy and gemmy, colorless quartz crystals, to 5.5 cm in length, are partially encrusted by a thin layer of lustrous, drusy, white dolomite that is the host to many, lustrous and translucent, orange colored scheelite crystals, to 5 mm across. When I first saw this pocket presented to me in China, I could not believe this was from the mine. It looks so different than anything we have seen here previously. This specimen is not a significant scheelite, per se, but it is a beautiful piece with as much "sparkle" as any mineral specimen can have. It just has something special to it. It is also very 3-dimensional, and lights great in a case. As a bonus, there are subtle phantom terminations within the quartz where you can see there were several generations of growth, one of which was coated by scheelite and one not. Photos simply cannot convey the combination of sparkle and luster here.
