Stolzite ps. Scheelite
Without a doubt this is the finest example of stolzite pseudomorphs from Darwin. These specimens were initially thought to be scheelite, however, crystals examined by us at the University of Texas in Austin have confirmed stolzite with remnant scheelite cores. Although they were found in the late 1950's specimens are rarely seen. The largest sharp octahedral crystal is 2.5 x 2.0 cm in size and the specimen hosts numerous single octahedral crystals including some interpenetrating twins. This specimen was formerly in the John Ydren collection (a California dealer of note from the 1950s-1970s, who sold many pieces later to Bob Trimingham, from which this came to Rock Currier and then in exchange to Zigras). Significant USA and worldwide rarity !
