For the mineral species from Maine, or anywhere in the USA, this is a very important and fine cassiterite thumbnail with unusual sharpness and luster. The color is a jet black hue that swallows light but reflects like glass. It is gorgeous. For any collector of USA species, as a thumbnail, it would be hard to beat for the combination of locality and quality. This was part of the significant and large East Coast suite of the Shields Flynn collection.
