Choice cluster of classic Axinite crystals nestled among crystals of Adularia, from the famous Alpine-type locality high up in the Polar Urals. Minerals here resemble the minerals from Switzerland's Alps, hence they are called alpine-type axinites and the Urals gave up some few in the 1980s-1990s. The Axinites reach 2.1 cm, and their sharp, bladed form and good luster complement their rich, coffee-brown color. These have high luster for the locality, which is what you want in a collectible quality specimen. But, the matrix association is what is really amazing - such associations are rare for Axinite for any locale, especially here. Two, sharp rhombic crystals of Adularia, up to 3.3 cm on edge, rise above the Axinites, and they fluoresce, as well. The particular geometry of this fine, small cabinet specimen gives it a nice, architectural aesthetic, and having good-quality crystals for both species in this combination is an added bonus that certainly elevates the level of this specimen.
