Lovely, single blade of Rhodonite from the famous locality of Broken Hill in Australia. The crystal is GEM and transparent!!! It grew into an open pocket, whereas 99.99% of all of these grow out into pockets that were squished into galena seams or covered later with calcite and thus ruined for luster. Crystals like this are incredibly rare! The very best, and most desired, Rhodonites have come from Broken Hill, so the chance to get a good thumbnail from here does not come around very often. A choice, aesthetic specimen from one of a very few pockets of this style found over 100 years of mining - there are few on the market, and none found recently! Featured in the book Collecting Classics: The Legacy of Kay Robertson (Mineralogical Record, May 2025) on page 65.
