Silver (crystalline)
Crystallized Kongsberg specimens are much more rare than are the classic wires and "ropes" from this ancient locale. Almost resembling an old war club in shape, this is an extremely aesthetic, thick, extended grouping of Silver that is superbly and unusually well-crystallized. It is particularly dramatic at the top, with several, rather distinct crystals intergrown and perched atop a thick, curving crystal of Silver. The back of the piece is almost as aesthetic with with some crude crystals of Silver dominant at the top of the piece, as in the front along with places where it looks like Calcite may have been dissolved out leaving a hole or negative crystal. It is hefty with a mass of 35.76 grams or 1.26 ounces. This is from a small suite of beautiful wire and crystalline silver miniatures obtained from collector Bill Larson, and he got them from a woman who obtained them in Kongsberg itself, prior to 1950 (personal communication, no labels).
