Description

Legrandite has such a vivid lemon yellow color, at its best, that they leap out in a case or display. This is an older specimen from the famous early 1980s finds that produced the Aztec Sun specimen with electric yellow color. It is a classic, splayed single crystal of legrandite over an inch in length. These remain the best in the world for the species, overall, to this day. The color is a wonderful saturated lemon yellow, and it backlights well for a glowing effect. From the private collection of internationally known wildlife artist Gamini Ratnavira (http://www.gaminiratnavira.com), who started collecting small mineral specimens many years ago after exposure to the mineral community in his residence of Fallbrook, California. For a number of years, Gamini made mineral watercolors for private collectors on commission for $500 each. For his own enjoyment, he also made watercolor paintings of all of his pieces, and the painting is included here with the specimen 7x7 cm paintings set in custom 6x6 inch frame.
