Description
The Cumbria area of England has produced some of the UK's finest Pyromorphites over the years (although many were mislabelled as green mimetites in some collections and dealer stocks). And while Roughton Gill is the best known locality there, other mines have produced notable lead-suite minerals, including Pyromorphite. This very large, small-cabinet specimen is outstanding. The Pyromorphite richly covers much of the matrix, and it grows in both small botryoids and small crystals. The microcrystalline botryoids and the crystals average around 1-2 mm, with many larger and many smaller. Pretty in and of itself, the fact that there is so little variation in the coloration is unusual for a large Pyro. Such uniformity adds a quality and beauty that is so easy on the eyes. The documentation with the collection (a simple list by hand) listed this piece as coming from a small location in Alston Moor that cannot be found on MINDAT, so to be safe I simply listed the locality as The Caldbeck Fells area in Cumbria, which would be inclusive of the likely origin of the Dry Gill or Roughton Gill Mines, for sure. The color and richness of this specimen create an excellent aesthetic that wholly reflects the quality of this choice English Pyromorphite.

Pyromorphite Sales Data
How this data is collected: Our system continuously monitors mineral listings from authorized dealer partners across the internet. We have explicit permission from all dealers whose listings we track - any dealers who have not provided specific and explicit authorization are NOT listed and NOT tracked by our system. When a previously available listing is marked as sold or removed from sale, we record this as a completed transaction. While we cannot guarantee the exact final sale price (as negotiations may occur), this data represents publicly listed prices for specimens that have transitioned from "for sale" to "sold" status. This provides valuable market insights based on observable listing behavior patterns.
