Neat locality example for the species, bright lustrous crystals of arsenopyrite measuring to 1.5 cm in size on a small amount of matrix. In great condition.The Osogovo Mountains, situated near Kyustendil in western Bulgaria, form a massive crystalline and volcanic mountain structure shaped by complex Alpine tectonic and magmatic processes. Historically, the region has been a vibrant mining center since ancient times and the Middle Ages, famous for extracting gold, silver, lead, and zinc through extensive hydrothermal vein systems. Mineralogically, this area hosts diverse ore formations where arsenopyrite frequently occurs as a primary iron arsenic sulfide mineral. Arsenopyrite is common in these polymetallic veins, often associated with pyrite and precious metals, serving as an important indicator and carrier for gold within the local mineral assemblages.
