Attractive cluster of platy mostly gemmy lustrous wulfenite crystals, these coated throughout with orange balls of crystallized mimetite. Some damage present as seen. The San Francisco Mine, located in the Sierra Prieta near Cucurpe in Sonora, Mexico, is a historic underground working rather than an open-pit operation. Historically, the underground levels accessed complex veins hosted in regional metamorphic and sedimentary formations affected by extensive hydrothermal activity. The mine is world-famous among mineral collectors for yielding some of the finest wulfenite specimens ever discovered, characterized by vibrant, transparent orange-yellow tabular crystals often found associated with mimetite.
