A fine, large thumbnail sized specimen of crystallized copper from modern-era (2020-25) finds at this important copper mine in Australia. For the size, this is simply the most robust single crystal we have seen as an elegant thumbnail specimen, featuring a single sharp and 3-dimensional spinel twin crystal (3 cm tall and 1.4 cm wide). This crystal is dramatically displayed on a pedestal of smaller crystals, and has huge visual impact. While there are many (hundreds) of larger specimens, truly fine thumbnail specimens seem scarcer; and while we have still seen many thumbnails, this one has real character that makes it stand out. Because of the robust twin and the balance here, the style is more reminiscent of a much more highly-valued, historic old specimen from Michigan when compared to other Rocklands coppers, which tend to be flattish.
