This oddity is a rare metallic specimen that is of surprisingly world-class quality, from the famous rhodochrosite mine in Colorado. Tetrahedrite is normally simply an association mineral from this mine. However, just a few times, large fine crystals have come out. Originally in the USA thumbnail focus collection of Jim Houran, and considered a huge surprise by all who saw it. He owned this for many years, before selling his non-gem USA thumbnail suite to Kyle Kevorkian in 2017 or so. We recently exchanged this, to bring it back to market. It remains not only a fine piece for the Colorado locality, but for the species from any USA locality. If memory serves, Jim exchanged this long ago from the collection of Allan Young, as well. The large crystal is 1.7 cm on edge. A true surprise, if purchased to display in a competitive TN collection case: the judges like best what surprises even the jaded!
