OUTSTANDING Imperial Topaz single crystal from the famous mine of Ouro Preto, which is the world's best source for this variety of Topaz: note the double termination! This is a fantastic specimen, with great clarity, luster, and a classic, light golden-orange color which helps make the Imperials so famous. Also, this 18.42 carat thumbnail is actually doubly-terminated, which is a real rarity for these specimens considering Topaz has perfect basal cleavage and, therefore, many crystals have broken bottoms. The smooth, lustrous faces along with the prismatic, orthorhombic habit and pyramidal terminations make it a fine example of this attractive and highly sought-after material.
