This is a significant single crystal of Bismuthinite from the Tazna Mine in Bolivia. It is an impressive single, terminated, prismatic crystal of Bismuthinite measuring 6.2 cm long and 2.0 cm wide. It is widely "striated" with bands from 1.5 to 5 mm wide running parallel to its length. The backside reveals some white attached matrix along with a smaller sidecar crystals that is 3.6 cm in length. Both crystals have a subdued, silver-gray metallic luster and excellent terminations. The Tazna Mine is a historic bismuth-tungsten mine in the high Andes of Bolivia that has produced noteworthy specimens of a variety of species for decades. This should date to around 2005-2008 when Alfredo Petrov brought a number of these specimens to market. Ex. Paul Stahl collection - 28916.
