Bismuthinite with Chalcopyrite
Greyish silver blades of Bismuthinite pervade a typical Fowey Consols matrix of mixed Quartz, Chalcopyrite, Pyrite and Arsenopyrite. On the display surface, well developed euhedral blades attain 1.5 cm and more while around the sides and base numerous Bismuthinite blades are frozen within the matrix. A singles Pyrite cube measuring 2 mm sits on the top surface with corners modified to the octahedron. Some cracks are visible abound the edges but these are stable. A fine and characteristic of well crystallised Bismuthinite from Fowey Consols mine at Tywardreath just north east of St. Blazey, close to St. Austell in Cornwall.
