NATIVE Gold
Unknown Owner
Although not explicitly labelled as such, this stunning wire Native Gold mostly likely comes from the Wire Patch mine. I'm not sure what gives me that impression, but it is labelled as "Upper American Gulch" and the American Gulch track leads upwards to the summit of Farncomb Hill from where the Wire Patch mine is located. All this is in the Breckenridge Mining District in Summit County, Colorado, USA. Not only is this Native Gold magnificent in its form, but specimens from Wire Patch mine are extremely rare, making this a very special piece indeed. At small miniature to large toenail in size it is large enough to show off its golden 'bird's nest' like form and is sat upon a little cream coloured rock matrix. At 4 g overall (some of which is the host rock) this is not a specimen to purchase on gold weight alone, but is priced according to its rarity as a location piece. One for the die-hard American gold enthusiast.
