Collector’s EdgeFeatured
While this locality is world famous for Tanzanite, the Merelani Hills of Tanzania are also host to a variety of other gorgeous and colorful minerals. These green tsavorite garnets are amongst the most coveted of species that comes from these mines. This is a neat example featuring numerous highly lustrous tsavorites associated with gemmy golden diopside on a graphite matrix. While the garnet isn’t perfect (see video) it is still a nice example for the locality with good aesthetics, combination, and color.
