This is a gorgeous 5.5 cm tall deep red/orange elbaite tourmaline crystal from the Malkhan District in Russia with very good color, luster, and gemminess for the locality. The crystal has a somewhat atypical pyramidal termination. A rare color for tourmaline, this location produces crystals that compare favorably to rubellite tourmaline the famous Jonas Mine in Brazil. A distinctive and excellent tourmaline from this important modern locale.
