This hand-sized matrix plate of quartz displays a crystallized "ribbon" of gold crystals, sharply crystalline and intergrown and intertwined like scales, glistening as it moves over the surface. The vein of gold is 100 percent crystals, and seems complete end to end! Such growths, capturing the full length of a gold growth as it deposited, in such a context, is so very rare. The plate is large, showy, and beautiful. This was acquired in 1991 from the collection of Dr. Robert Woodside of Vancouver, who had recently gotten it from the miners, and was long in the John Dagenais collection. Illustrated in an article on the Dagenais collection in the Mineralogical Record, 2019, page 50. Comes with a custom base.
